West Brom’s on-loan winger Harvey Barnes impressed once again on the weekend as the Baggies hammered Queens Park Rangers 7-1 at the Hawthorns, and fans on Twitter were desperate for the club to keep him beyond the one year loan spell.
Barnes came through the academy at his parent club Leicester and spent the first half of last season on loan at Barnsley, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 25 matches before his form saw the Foxes recall him.
In his first five games at West Brom, Barnes has now scored two and created one, looking exceptionally comfortable in the process.
The 20-year-old’s role was changed by boss Darren Moore for the win over QPR, as the Baggies switched to a 3-5-2 formation with Barnes playing in behind the front two of Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle. Despite failing to get himself on the scoresheet, Barnes provided the perfect link between midfield and attack and put in one of the stand-out performances.
After the game West Brom fans on Twitter were pleading with the club to keep Barnes or put in a big bid to buy him permanently, with many comparing the situation to when Romelu Lukaku took the Hawthorns by storm when on loan from Chelsea. Check out some of the best tweets below.
